Mark Antony's
Legendary Silver Denarius

After
the murder of his cousin and ally, Julius Caesar in 44BC, Mark
Antony and his rivals were engaged in a major war. In order to pay the troops, each legion had its own mint
that traveled with the troops. Each legion had its legion
number or name indicated on their coins. One side of the coin
featured three legionary standards and the number of the
legion. The other side depicted an ancient warship. Mark
Antony's name and titles appeared above and below the ship. We are
pleased to offer a silver Legionary Denarius of Marc Antony made between about 33 and 31BC.
