Varieties:
1942/1 Overdate - discovered in February 1943 by Arnold Cohn of
Kingston, NY. Most were found in New York State and vicinity,
after they had been placed into circulation through the New York City
Federal Reserve Bank. By the time collectors became aware of
them, most of the coins had already spent several months in
circulation, accounting for their rarity (especially of Uncirculated
coins) today.
Notes:
The most popular and valuable variety of this year is the 1942/1
overdate
